Instant Cake error: "Restore: unable to open /dev/sda for writing"

I am a first-time user of Instant Cake (IC) trying to image a new Western Digital WD10EVDS (AV-GP) 1 TB SATA drive for a failed TiVo HD. I believe the root cause of subject error is the motherboard BIOS is not detecting the new WD drive in "Boot Device Priority" list. MB is VIA K8T800 chipset-based ASUS K8V-X. I would greatly appreciate any input! I have read countless forum discussions and run out of ideas and patience; hoping someone here can help. Here is list of actions taken: -updated BIOS to latest version -using PS-2 keyboard -disconnected all drives except for boot CD (IDE interface) -changed BIOS boot device priority settings -connected new drive, no jumpers, straight out of box to existing and known good SATA cable -booted with downloaded and unzipped version of IC. Before updating BIOS I received error message at power-up "hardware initiate failed, please check device. The BIOS is not installed." This did not reappear after BIOS was updated. While in BIOS it was noted that the CD drive was configured as "Secondary IDE Master" and IC options changed accordingly. As previously stated also noted BIOS did not detect new WD drive in "Boot Device Priority"...
